A real soft spot…

I have a real soft spot for these rings. The idea came together so beautifully, it’s a shame not everything works this well. We spent ages discussing ways to give the rings a little personal twist and they mentioned that she is a bassist and he’s a guitarist. My first thought was the outline of their instruments, but somehow that seemed unbelievably cheesy, like it would be better off in neon over a dive bar in Las Vegas.

Also, subtlety is so important that I figured it would be too obvious and we needed something a little more coded. I figured the simplest idea would be using the number of strings. His has four for her bass, and hers has six for his guitare. The detail is in 18ct yellow gold and the band in 18ct white gold, which I’m also very fond of. They’re both slightly organic and fairly chunky at 6mm wide and 2mm thick, maybe a little more. His has a bit of a flat edge to give a slightly crisper feel. Great stuff.
